What Happens in a Session?

Sessions are normally weekly and are an hour in length. What happens in a session can be very variable depending on what you bring to the session as a client. During the session we might:

  • discuss problems and issues in an empathic way which allows full exploration of the feelings and sensations which arise
  • gently explore physical tensions that act to block desired actions or feelings and their relationship to life’s conflicts and uncertainties
  • explore a physical sensation or movement that seems to have some particular emotional charge
  • explore challenges which arise in our therapeutic relationship
  • ease and investigate physical tensions with massage where this is desired and considered appropriate

It’s important to emphasize that physical work is only brought in when appropriate and helpful - some sessions may take place with us sitting the whole time in conversation - as in many other psychotherapeutic approaches.
