Why Psychotherapy?

People come to psychotherapy for a very wide range of reasons. Some of these may be:

  • because they have reached a point of crisis in their lives and feel that they can't carry on in the same way, and need to make changes
  • because they feel burdened by fears and anxieties which may restrict their lives
  • because they feel responsible for the effect that they have had on others in their life and want to change
  • because they feel a lack of meaning in their lives and want to regain the enjoyment of life they once felt
  • because they feel overwhelmed by strong emotions that they cannot control
  • because they recognise that they are struggling to cope
  • because they see that their difficulties in dealing with their emotions, or with stress in their lives is having a detrimental effect on their heath

  • and for many other reasons too numerous to list here.

  • Through psychotherapy they hope to make progress in making positive changes on how they interact with their world and how they experience themselves in their life. Studies show that they are consistently pleased with the support they receive through psychotherapy and feel that it is helpful and a support for positive change in their lives.
